First off, let me start by saying happy 4/20 to all the people who partake in the festivities today.

On that note, Wiz Khalifa dropped a new project today called, The Saga of Wiz Khalifa.

When Wiz drops any music, you know you better have a bowl packed or a Swisher Sweet rolled up.

I started listening to this album hoping I was going to here some Rolling Papers vibes but to my surprise, I was mistaken.

The Saga of Wiz Khalifa is a 7 song, 21minute project that includes 7 features from artists such as Tga, Ty Dolla $ign and Logic. Below is the track list and following the list is quick reviews of each song.

At the end of this post, I will give the album a grade just as I did for Blame it on Baby.

The Saga of Wiz Khalifa Track List

  1. Y U Mad ft. Megan Thee Stallion, Ty Dolla $ign & Mustard

  2. Out in Space ft. Quavo

  3. Still Wiz

  4. Bammer ft. Mustard

  5. Contact ft. Tyga

  6. Clouds in the Air ft. K CAMP

  7. High Today ft. Logic

Track One: Y U MAD ft. Megan Thee Stallion, Ty Dolla $ign & Mustard

If you read my last review, you know that I'm not a fan of Meg, however I am a huge fan of Mr. Todd Dillerson(that's a Dave reference).

The whole concept of this album seemed to be songs to smoke to. Wiz released it on 4/20, there are pot leaves on the cover, and it's a Wiz album.

But to me, this first tack isn't one to smoke to.

In my opinion, the best part of this track was Ty Dolla $ign.

Track Two: Out in Space ft. Quavo

Now this track has a smoking vibe to it.

Wiz and Quavo's flows are dope on this track with Wiz coming in with a hoppy flow.

Stackin’ my paper up, no, I don’t make enough All of these n***as, I smoke when I’m wakin’ up No, I ain’t fake enough

With a name like, 'Out in Space', you'd assume it would, Even the beat has an outer spacy vibe.

Track Three: Still Wiz

In this track, Wiz Khalifa samples the iconic track by Dr. Dre, Still Dre. The way he flows and raps reminds me of some old school Wiz.

And you know its a jam when you get the iconic Wiz laugh.

Track Four: Bammer ft. Mustard

This track is the second one on this project that is produced my Mustard. It starts off with some jazzy saxophone and then the beat drops.

Wiz then comes ion with simple bars, which to me has been a common theme throughout so far. Other then the beat, there's nothing too special about this track.

At this point I'm starting to think Wiz fell off or I've just out grown him.

Track Five: Contact ft. Tyga

To me, this is one of the better song I've heard thus far.

We all know that Tyga has fallen off and is not what he used to be, but I feel this track suits him well. Being the single for this album, Contact had to be catchy and able to stand on its own.

And to me, it hits on both of those aspects as the single.

Track Six: Clouds in the Air ft. K CAMP

Right off the bat, the kicks hit and I find myself nodding my head.

I'm looking around like, "where the f**k is my joint?". I can 100% see myself cruising around with all the windows down smoking a jay to this track. This is what I was hoped the whole project would sound like.

I think the only thing that could've made this song better is replacing the humming with some Cudi hums.

Even K CAMP has a dope verse and its the best feature so far. Let's see if Logic can top it.

Track Seven: High Today ft. Logic

First thoughts...sounds like a chill, laid back song.

Logic comes in singing the hook, which is simple, but low key catchy.

Where is my mind? It's far away Up in the sky, I'm high today Break it on down, then we rollin' it up I can see my house from up here Who needs a jet when you're fly like me? Tell 'em You don't need a jet to get high like me

This is a hook high school me would've made my Facebook status.

You can really hear the emotion in Wiz's voice during his verses, which is an aspect I enjoy. Also, sorry K CAMP, Logic comes in and steals the feature show. Almost didn't if he was just the hook.

The Saga of Wiz Khalifa Final Thoughts

My reviews aren't going to be these in depth dissections, but more of easy reads that spark conversations.

With that being said, I give The Saga of Wiz Khalifa a 6 out of 10. The reason I'm giving it a 6 is because I feel it wasn't is best. This album feels rushed, like Wiz just wanted to put something out with his name on it.

It wasn't what I expected it to sound like and as I stated before, I was hoping for a Rolling Papers vibe. Out of the whole 7 songs, there are about 3 I can see myself listening to again.

Wiz, keeping doing you and know that I will always check out anything you drop.

If you haven't already, you can check out the album on your preferred streaming service and once you have please comment your thoughts below.
